Laura Sercombe

Chief Executive Officer, Girls Friendly Society

For over 30 years I have worked as part of the third sector in service delivery charities with a focus around challenging injustice. At work and in my personal life I try to be optimistic, hardworking and brave. Like many many women today I have suffered the same doubts and know Imposters Syndrome so often gets in the way.

I have a great job - as CEO for GFS, a children’s charity with a mission to support girls to be proud of who they are. When girls as young as six are telling us they cannot be themselves we know we are doing vital work. We operate in clusters across England and Wales in areas where research says they do not have the same life opportunities as their peers – to inspire and empower them to live their best lives.

In my spare time I enjoy supporting other organisations as a trustee and committee member, time with my family and friends and my adorable spaniels!
